Nassau County, Florida Natural Gas Expansion Project

Strong demand from local businesses, requests to the Nassau County Business Development Board from companies looking to expand into the area, and overall increased awareness of the many benefits of natural gas were the driving forces for this expansion project.

The project is a partnership between Peninsula Pipeline Company (PPC), TECO Peoples Gas and Florida Public Utilities (FPU). PPC and TECO Peoples Gas jointly own the primary transmission pipeline from the Duval/Nassau County line through Nassau County terminating at the Rock Tenn paper mill on Amelia Island. TECO Peoples Gas will serve Rock Tenn. PPC and FPU will serve all other Nassau County customers.

This expansion project will bring abundant, clean and economical natural gas to this area, which had been previously deprived. This expansion project, and others like it, displays a unity within the natural gas industry to join forces to provide an economic development engine to under-served areas.
